Live tweeting @GovAndyBeshear
A #KYFreedom thread ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
@BritainyBeshear starts out to tell us about how they are going to convince kids to #MaskUp. She’s reading a script to begin.
In terrifying fashion, @BritainyBeshear repeats the slogan “we will get through this. We will get through this together.”
Her initiative is a “coverings for kids” which will work to get masks for students and teachers at no cost to school districts.
@BritainyBeshear makes a “next slide Kenneth” joke. She’s much better on delivery than @GovAndyBeshear.
Clearly his better half.
@GovAndyBeshear takes his podium back and says she’s the boss. He’s always saying corny stuff about her like commenting on her age.
@GovAndyBeshear is going through testing sites. Announces a partnership with Norton Healthcare in Louisville nortonhealthcare.com/RITC or call 5028614611 to get appointment.
Moving into report of new cases...
Beshear says numbers are higher than last week. 700 new positive cases. He’s trying to do a little damage control since he’s been spouting his #MaskUp mandate is working. Numbers are good up despite his overreach.
638 hospitalized
135 in ICU
5.23 positivity rate. Up from yesterday.
18 new kids under 5 with #Covid19. Says he had his kids tested and they were negative.
@GovAndyBeshear says our kids are enough reason to protect our kids.
NOTE: Kids dying or even struggling with #COVID19 are a statistical improbability
7 more deaths: ages in kid a 48 year old, couple 50 years old, 60s 70s and 80s comorbidoties mentioned in younger age.
3 more deaths associated with long term care facilities. Beshear mentions new reporting mechanism. Worth noting is on his online reporting, deaths associated from last week to this week went down 🧐. Still 65% of all death in long term care facilities.
@GovAndyBeshear mentions that Kentucky is approaching the total number of casualties seen in “some major conflicts”.
Social media happy to lucky stuff...
@GovAndyBeshear is showing a “kiddo” who has asthma wearing a mask.
Picture of what looks like Rocky Adkins with his dog wearing a mask.
It wasn’t Rocky Adkins
Questions:
A question on of bars and restaurant restroctions will be lifted.
Beshear says data isn’t showing their effect yet.
Businesses ask if a face shield can be an appropriate replacement for masks.
Beshear says yes in certain situations.
Question on @GovAndyBeshear’s thoughts on schools opening with virtual learning.
Says he’s not surprised. Wants to see more do it. Wants districts to take time.
Note: kids aren’t going to in person class folks. They don’t want it and it won’t happen. Writing on the wall.
Question on November elections. Reporter says Gov received recommendations from a working group on Friday.
Beshear says @KYSecState is working on his recommendations now.
@GovAndyBeshear says he wants no excuse absentee voting. Thinks primary election went well.
@GovAndyBeshear says we need to look at ways to get people through faster, increase poll workers, and need to spread the word on absentee voting.
Travel advisory states: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Nevada, S. Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi.
@TomL_Ky_Today asks about people coming from out of state need to be tested. Reminds it’s just an advisory and due to court ruling he can’t issue a mandate.
Note: Thank you Chris Weist Esq!
Question on helping school districts
Beshear mentioned need for federal dollars to bail him out. Also mentioned helping with making sure teachers can get tested.
@LASmithReports asks if @GovAndyBeshear is comfortable with a derby crowd.
Beshear says he wants to see the numbers on how many people can attend. Would want to see changes but wants to see where we are a week from now. Says he thinks there can be some fans. Capacity changes.
@d_yetter asks about testing results delays
@GovAndyBeshear says we deal with 50 labs that put swabs through the process. Says it’s hard to monitor times. Beshear says one large lab has unacceptable turnaround times but says state labs are turning tests around quickly.
@GovAndyBeshear says there are many types of tests and people need to know what’s best. Says rapid testing is less reliable.
Beshear’s answer was a swipe at federal response vs his state response. He = good. They = bad.
Question from @WFPLNews about regional compact of some states buying tests. @GovAndyBeshear says he wasn’t approached about it. Outlines KYs challenges.
Reporter says he spoke w/teachers who want to return to in-class.
@GovAndyBeshear wants every1 in community to stay up to date w/ what’s goin on (alluding to co. cases & trying to undermine the point that some teachers r okay w/ back in class). Talks about of a case is confirmed
@TomL_Ky_Today asks about federal lawsuit on evictions.
@GovAndyBeshear says it is in mediation. No result yet.
@GovAndyBeshear says mask mandates will likely be extended.
Note: his order says “may be renewed” but state law doesn’t allow the same emergency order to be renewed within 9 months time of each other.
@GovAndyBeshear asked about federal funding. He again pleads for a federal bailout to repair the damage he’s done.
That’s a wrap!
