#RamMandirAyodhya #Bhoomipujan today is another step along the way not to building up a new resurgent strong influential, unassailable #India. It's objective is to build up an (electorally) strong, influential, and unassailable political #RightWing Party.

It is not so much about #religion, it's all about building up a new mythology of overt religiosity, creating a theocracy in the garb of nationalism, asserting control of the majority, and coercing the minority into accepting its subservient status.

Fanatic Hindus may well be celebrating and congratulating each other, but it is hard to see how any of them actually benefit from the Project. The fact of #RamMandir will be used to quell any demands for #RamRajya the apocryphal #PerfectRule that was said to exist at the time.

#Muslims have in fact lost very little of substance, except that they will be made to feel aliens in their own country by majoritarian triumphalism. The #Dalits don't get a look in on the party either, they never have, and unless they get politically savvy they never will.

It is a deeply cynical, if alarmingly clever piece of political theatre, actors pretending to restore the pride of a religion that has never lost it, to defend its cultural symbols while destroying its culture. And the masses have fallen for it as they always do.

And so long as they are drugged and drunk on the #OpiateofReligion, so long as they can be made to feel powerful they will support an ideology that is, in fact, hell-bent on the one and only objective - power. Power for the elite, for a clique of #ConnectedPeople.

In the #Ramayana story, the God-King #Ram walked away from the throne itself, from power to uphold a principle. Today there is no principle that they who would covet the Throne of #NewDelhi would not jettison, TBC.
