1. #Writer #IndieWriter folks out there: I need some urgent practical advice for my first "hybrid" book (institutional and indie at the same time). I'm looking for:
- ebook formatting resources
- a community of fellow writers
This book is extremely important.
2. I got some advice from professional book designers recommending @ScrivenerApp . Their sub-title is not very encouraging: "all you need to craft your first draft". It's not a draft and if it were, it would be my thousandth one. Anybody with experience with that?
3. They also strongly discouraged me to use MSword templates. Yeah, I remember I used it once long ago - it can mess up the text big time.
There are #formatting guidelines out there and basically you can just apply them to the last version of the edited text.
4. However, *something* tells me it can be more complicated than that.
I never self or hybridly published a book: mine were all published by big #publishing houses. They do all the heavy lifting.
5. Another problem: I didn't have time to contact any publishing house. This book has to be written, edited, formatted, cataloged (yes, I have the ISBN - several actually), shiny on September the 10th for FREE distribution.
6. Yeah, another big problem: this book is about #suicide and lifting, there will be a web (simpler) version at the @elitefts website, where I am a columnist. It is supposed to be our collective contribution for #SuicidePreventionDay .
7. No publisher would be excited about publishing a free book, right.
The book and author affiliation is the @RoninInstitute . I'm pretty proud of that and excited about this first work as a Ronin.
8. But none of us are professional publishers 🙂.
I'm going to talk to my mates at the @freelancersu who are a real lifesaving resource.
9. What the book needs:
*just formatting* ! Isn't it great? Wonderful people have come forward with generous help for editing, cover page image (my incredible brother @LaerteCoutinho1 ) and even paying for a book formatting app (for PC).
10. Please, share any suggestion you have used yourself or are very familiar with. I did make a few ebooks for my students in the past. They looked kindda cute but certainly not professional. This one needs to be perfect.
11. I've published a lot and this is possibly the boldest argument I ever published. It has to be extremely precise, theory and evidence supported. Up to now, 289 references, all of them necessary.
I just need some help to make it easy to read (format)
12. Thanks! Share it at will!
