Day 162 and 163 - #COVID19 in Iran

A brief update

Picking up from two days ago:

More about me:

And my methods:

[Current Outlook]

#important While all the signs point towards worsening of the 2nd wave, the officials appear to be reporting artificially decreasing number of deaths (which was underreported anyway) so that they could hold the Moharram/Ashura religious ceremonies.

As this tweep jokingly says, if this trend continues they will be soon reporting people coming back from the dead.

As for the news of reinfections, they have completely stopped for more than a week now.

While if true this would be such a huge relief, I have a feeling the news of reinfections are being censored in the same way to give authorities the permission to go full on with Ashura.

Generally, all the signs I follow as guides are either stabilised or getting worse. Number of patients in critical care is now 4148, along the highest I have ever seen. E.g. Numbers from Qom point towards ever increasing number of cases although the slope is flatter.

#Important all provinces severely affected during the 1st wave are in red again during the 2nd wave:

- Qom
- Gilan
- Mazandaran
- Golestan

Considering infection rates of up to 40% had been reported, this does not sound good at all for the "Herd Immunity".

Meanwhile, death of high level officials due to COVID continues. Soon after Friday Prayer Imam of Minab, yesterday Friday Prayer Imam of the Kish Island died due to COVID.

Friday Prayer Imam is the highest religious official in a city or town.

We also keep losing the medical staff. The officials have started thinking of simply hiring more staff... as if replacing disposable goods.

Mohammad Shokri, a nurse in Mashhad, died due to COVID infection.

Dr. Marzie Roshandel, Paediatrician in Tabriz

Dr. Amir Hooshang Fallah, anaestehtist in Mahmudabad, Mazandaran

Zahra Sheerooyeh, head nurse in Borujerd, Lorestan

Here, she was seen in this footage crying over how she had not been able to hold her child - something that she never managed to do in the end.

Leaving you with this:

After anal application of a flower oil and drinking of camel urine for the treatment of COVID, this "Islamic Physician" in the state TV is prescribing the wasp sting.

Good night and stay safe.
