So we came to this tonight and as people are walking down burnside and have not yet reached the precinct the LRAD is telling protesters that people cannot enter the propert. I have been out many nights and no one has attempted to enter MCSO

LRAD is already warning of trespassing, arrest, and teargas if people enter the property of the Kelly Building “this includes journalists and members of the press”

Which is to say that a #PDXprotest #blm march is just now approaching the MCSO Building. Night 76?

Here is the front of the building. Current chant “#BlackLivesMatter

The PPB has consistently set up cones at the Penumbra Kelly building, but it’s been very unclear whether that’s what they’re treating as the property line, or if they serve another function.

Street medics treat an injured person. a lone PPB officer and a police medic approach. “If we bring an ambulance in, are you all gonna be nice to him?”
“Of course!” Say the street medics “We love AMR!”

Ambulance, idling at the end of the block for 10 min, pulls in 2 min later.

The speaker tonight is the same as the person who led the march last night, he is encouraging people to register to vote and mentions the district attorney’s press conference from earlier today

At another reference to the power of voting to produce meaningful change some of the protesters being loudly chanting “Black Livea Matter”

The dog statue is still in its anti-molestation box

Anyway, just thinking about how last night the police were concerned that bright lights shone at people would cause them pain.

Since the last time a crowd came to the MCSO, the neighbors whose back yard faces the building have put up a sign.

The crowd has now moved to the west driveway of MCSO. seems to have been mostly because of the presence of more officers at this driveway. On previous nights, the baton charges have come out of whichever driveway was most sparsely occupied by protesters.

A man goes up to the police

Oops. East driveway.

There’s a barbecue-based percussion section! They’re getting lit up by the roof cop spotlight. The crowd does not approve of the spotlight.

Some of the moms are on the front lines with #blacklivesmatter signs

So we have not been tweeting much because it is a really lovely night with a bunch of people chatting and chanting at the police for black lives and against police brutality.

Demetria Hester arrived and is revitalizing chants at the west entrance

We’re headed out. @JFlorencePDX is still on the ground. With their ability to arrest protesters under heavy scrutiny, the PPB thus far hasn’t assaulted the crowd. As a result, the night was low-key and peaceful. Demetria Hester is still out as well, in a real good spongebob hat.
