About That Kiss
So tell me about that kiss –
the one you so deliberately mentioned yesterday.
Exactly where on the map of my body would you place it?
Inquiring minds – and hungry neurons –
want to know.
Would you moisten your lips
before applying them to tender flesh
or simply drop that kiss upon my cheek
then run, hide behind whatever‘s convenient
and peek to gauge my reaction?
Or would you take your time,
surveying the landscape laid before you,
then lean slowly down
to burn the outline of your mouth
on a curve of hip or somewhere much more secret?
I twitch in anticipation; if I had to guess I'd say
you'd cast your eye over my charms
and turn away regretfully in mock dismay,
afraid to disappoint with what you can't deliver.
I have no time for verbal swordplay,
highschool hide and seek.
Can’t you hear the whistle of the wind
as it blows precious time, like grains of sand,
from this deserted beach on which we stand?
So, about that kiss –
the one you mentioned yesterday...
