๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ What about a U.S. #food policy? Is there even one to speak of right now? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

Stay tuned during the coming weeks for more on a National Food Policy in the #UnitedStates.

... In the meantime, Molly Anderson and Ricardo Salvador give their take ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

The current U.S. food system is governed by a patchwork of uncoordinated policy frameworks and federal departments: #agriculture, #health, #environment, #energy, social security, #labor, #education.

So policies made at different levels of governance (e.g. municipal, state, tribal, federal) are often contradictory or disconnected from one another, leading to missed opportunities to support innovative local and regional #foodsystem initiatives already happening on the ground.

A National Food Policy could bridge these existing policy gaps and contradictions by creating a coherent, coordinated, and integrated framework for all sectors affecting the food system.

A National Food Policy would go far beyond the US #FarmBill ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Stay tuned for more!

In the meantime, those following U.S. #foodsystem(s) news might lappreciate @lisaelaineh's piece in the @guardian:
