🚨BREAKING: @CDCgov did NOT write a controversial guideline saying that people without #COVID19 symptoms don’t need to get tested for #coronavirus. @HHSGov officials wrote & posted it on CDC’s website, bypassing CDC’s scientific review process.

“That was a doc that came from the top down, from HHS & (Trump’s #coronavirus) task force. That policy does NOT reflect what many people at the CDC feel should be the policy.”

>40% of #COVID19 cases are transmitted by those without symptoms—testing asymptomatic people is CRUCIAL

The document contains “elementary errors”—it refers to “testing for #COVID19”(the illness), rather than for #coronavirus—and has recommendations inconsistent with CDC.’s stance that clearly mark it as not having been written by CDC scientists.🤬

A new version of the bogus testing guidance—expected to be posted Friday—has also not been cleared by CDC’s usual internal review for scientific documents and is being revised by officials at HHS.🙄

Trump blames the US’ #coronavirus death toll on “too much testing.”

WRONG.🤬

🚨Another document—dangerously arguing for “the importance of reopening schools”—was also dropped into CDC’s website by the HHS in July and is sharply out of step with the CDC’s usual neutral and scientific tone.

TRUMP IS RISKING OUR KIDS’ LIVES FOR POLITICAL REASONS.🤬

💥“HHS and the White House writing scientifically inaccurate statements such as ‘don’t test all contacts’ on CDC’s website is like someone vandalizing a national monument with graffiti.”~former CDC Director @DrTomFrieden

CDC’s current guidelines on #coronavirus testing—posted on 8/24—said people without symptoms “do not necessarily need a test” even if they have been in close contact with an infected person for more than 15 minutes.🤬

‼️Not testing asymptomatic people with known exposure to someone infected with #coronavirus totally undermines efforts to contain the virus.

It’s a prescription for community spread and *more #COVID19 cases and DEATH*.

But Trump thinks he can spin death.🤬

#TrumpKnew

The Infectious Diseases Society of America, normally a close partner of the CDC, strongly criticized the recommendation on testing. “We’ve communicated that to the CDC and HHS, but I have not seen any signs that they’re going to change it.”

Trump is trying to cook the books.🤬

At least 8 versions of the testing guidance were circulated within CDC in early August, but scientists’ objections went unheard. A senior official told the scientists, “We do not have the ability to make substantial edits. » The guidance was then quietly published on Aug. 24.🤬

The guidance also advised people who “have attended a public or private gathering of >10 people (without widespread mask wearing or physical distancing)” to get tested only if they are “vulnerable.” But CDC recommends AGAINST large gathering and avoids using the term “vulnerable”

‼️Yet another example of @realDonaldTrump trying to spin the data to #coverup his total failure to address the #pandemic.

Not testing potentially infected people will allow undetected spread of #coronavirus and lead to MORE deaths, just like we saw last spring.

VOTE HIM OUT.
