Fish value chain entrepreneurs calling!!! Join us at 2pm WAT. @FarmersStories

Good afternoon, dear Twitter Fam, and a warm welcome to a new week and another splendid edition of #TheAfricanFarmersStories

We have a special guest today who will take us on his amazing journey as an agropreneur, Sejiro Michael Oke-Tojinu. Let's meet him...
@FarmersStories

Sejiro Oke - Tojinu is a young farmer from Badagry Kingdom, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is a graduate of Fisheries and Aquatic Biology from the prestigious Lagos State University (LASU). Sejiro is married to his lovely wife and they have two handsome sons.
#TheAfricanFarmersStories

Sejiro began to take interest in #Agriculture as a teenager from his mum who was engaged in all kinds of backyard farming both crops and poultry. He learnt a lot from her about the dignity in labour.

Later, Sejiro started planting vegetables, including tomatoes, and made good money from it. While in the secondary school, Agricultural Science was his best subject but Sejiro was reading many other books on #Agriculture. His interest became a passion.

Sejiro read a lot about rabbits and snails too, which he also raised and sold successfully, making him very popular within and outside his community. He was clearly different from his peers who were busy playing sports like football, etc.

Sejiro continued learning & this time, from one farm to another in the quest for hands-on experience. Then, he met his first boss, Mr. Joseph Nwakpa who provided internship opportunity for him in fish hatchery management on a farm in Lekki, Lagos State.

Sejiro’s grandpa was a fisherman. He helped Sejiro to develop interest in fishing as a hobby. When Sejiro heard that Fisheries was a degree program in LASU, he didn't hesitate to apply for it. According to Sejiro, it was ‘the best choice I ever made!’
#TheAfricanFarmersStories

Sejiro started a fish hatchery in his 2nd year in LASU & registered his farm business in 2005. He learnt a lot from lecturers, and support beyond the classroom. Sejiro juggled between schooling and his farm business.
