After several citizen reports, the Federal Police took a total of 20 smuggled refugees into custody in Bernstadt auf dem Eigen, Kemnitz / Oberlausitz, Schönau-Berzdorf and Kiesdorf on Thursday. According to the Federal Police,
18 people of Syrian and Egyptian origin between the ages of two and 38 were arrested early in the morning. In the afternoon it was a 17-year-old Syrian who was sitting on a train from Zittau to Görlitz. And a 35-year-old from Syria was found in Kiesdorf that evening.
According to the information, the refugees were able to identify themselves with their passports, but did not have a visa or a so-called residence permit. According to investigations, they were brought into Germany by smugglers from Poland.
Here they submitted asylum applications to the Federal Police and came to the initial reception facility in Dresden on Friday. The federal police are now investigating because of the unauthorized entry and residence.
"The focus of the investigation is also on the smugglers and organizers of this act," said a federal police officer.
The Federal Police Inspectorate in Ebersbach requests pertinent information on the transport of refugees across the border or any collection by third parties on 03586/76 020.
