78.01/ Week seventy-eight, January 8-14, 2022, thread here.
Week 77 below.
78.02/ #MotzeiShabbatMovieNight, John Woo's "Paycheck"
Why? (1) Underrated sci-fi action mystery, (2) we saw Mission:Impossible 2 wks ago and it's sequel is by Jon Woo... but it's terrible while this movie is great and almost the same genre
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paycheck_…
78.03/ Only silver lining to a Cowboys win: a scorigami!
78.04/ During this late stage of the #TrumpCrisis I repeat to myself, as a social scientist, that I must remember to recognize the affects of (1) race & (2) religion (for ease of use: white supremacy)
78.05/ I'm just now starting to calm down and comprehend that the #Steelers are one step away from the playoffs after starting 1-3. What a ride!
78.06/ This thread articulates a lot of how I'm seeing things too, especially this point:
78.07/ I feel this sentiment and resonate with this thread (and there's serendipity that her grandparents and mine come from the same part of the old country).
78.08/ BE"H I'll make a separate list for my reactions/thoughts about Sunday's #NFL drama (why clog up my main feed?) but to kick it off (har) attached is the chart my son & I finished for all the games of the 2021 season. See below for 2020's version.
78.09/ Never have I respected a US Senator more than after seeing this short clip of a gorilla loose in a space station.
78.10/ Hard agree.
78.11/ Like the Onion, this account will often predict the future behavior of the reprobate RedHats but until then, the satiric clarity it offers is refreshing:
78.12/ My thread about the #NFL madness from Sunday, especially as it relates to my ancestral team (I was born in Pittsburgh), the #Steelers
78.13/ This thread is a useful key to help navigate the health care system. To me, it's not as much a "cheat sheet" as a way to translate what you're enduring into language that is practical for HCP, which is a neglected modern skill.
78.14/ The assault on the Democrats from both sides is maddening; the rhetoric is nearly identical. I agree with much of this short thread and this in particular: the idea that Ds don't fight.
78.15/ Another short thread that reflects my view about the need to defend the successes of the Democrats - to not let perfect be the enemy of the good - and avoid depressive doomerism that undermines our chance for improving our future.
78.16/ This is a great starting point for a soc-sci investigation because Netanel's hypothesis is likely to be true: those that erase women are those who protect predators. It's the patriarchy, which is a toxic self-indulgent "interpretation" of halakhah.
78.17/ Politics is a subtle art and many of the #Literalists can't understand the rhetoric or actions (which is why they are duped by the all-talk, no action grifters). Oliver is correct, Mitch has an ouchie and this is what a successful hit looks like.
78.18/ I don't know how @Pittsburgh_Dad is able to see into my brain during the games, but he evidently can.
Everyone was asleep during SNF so I had to suffer, and cheer, in total silence. Which I deserve (grumble). #HereWeGo
78.18b/ Welp, here's his response. I'm not surprised he's Prof. X. Or at least, Mentok.
78.19/ The OLP/Chochmat Nashim divrei Torah are great except it's hard to find the entries by #parsha. Here are the 4 I've found so far for #Beshalach:
5782 blogs.timesofisrael.com/how-a-tree-tur…
5781 blogs.timesofisrael.com/when-pharaoh-s…
5780 blogs.timesofisrael.com/tree-tips/
5779 blogs.timesofisrael.com/torat-miriam-h…
78.20/ There's also a new essay by the always great Dean Rachel Friedman of Lamdeinu about the Song of the Sea via Rabbi Angel's site. #Parsha #Beshalach

78.21/ While I'm on a #parsha kick, here are two of my Divrei Torah/threads on #Beshalach from last year, and a teaser for a third. #ReshetKeshet
1)
2)
3)
78.22/ #NFL All-Pro votes are out: TJ Watt is a unanimous 1st Team! He's got to get DPOY, now.
#Steelers:
Edge: Watt, 50
IDL: Heyward, 19
S: Fitzpatrick, 1
ST: Killebrew, 3 & D. Watt, 1
Snubbed: Boswell (PK)

78.23/ My technical problems are continuing so it's getting harder to stay online. And Shabbas is also very soon. Stay safe everyone and #ShabbatShalom
