THREAD: In celebration of the 2022 #OpenDataDay, we call upon our stewards, partners and the international community at large to organize a #BetterBudget Dataquest for Sustainable Development and/or a Public Infrastructure Data #RallyFromHome or #DataOnTheStreets Rally.

Are you a government agency that publishes budget information in #opendata or a civil society organization that works with #fiscalopendata?

Whether you work at the national or local level, GIFT’s user engagement initiatives are for you! 2/11

Through these initiatives, we aim to encourage CSOs and govts to work together to leverage the power of #opendata in the better understanding of how public resources are being spent and contribute to the development independent and innovative analysis of public #fiscaldata. 3/11

The #BetterBudgetDataquest for Sustainable Development is an #opendata expedition, in w/c the govt and CSOs call on an audience with intermediate to advanced knowledge in #datascience, quantitative methods, economics or journalism (or similar) to... 4/11

..explore open public spending data and relate it any additional data & present their findings on the progress of the implementation of budget allocations towards the achievement of the #SDGs + use of #COVID funds. 5/11

Consider the critical role of the public budget in achieving the #SDGs below. Analyze available #COVID funds data in your country! 6/11

For the Public Infrastructure Data #RallyFromHome, CSOs and govts ask the public to check available info on construction projects datasets or mapping platforms w/ budget, contracting & geolocation info & evaluate a project or a sectoral infra policy (health, education, etc.) 7/11

Participants monitor public infrastructure projects, through in-person evidence or desk-based data analysis through social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, podcast platforms, etc.) 8/11

In both initiatives, a panel of jurors from govt and CSOs (GIFT team can participate on demand) choose the winners based on creativity, engagement & comprehensiveness of the data analysis.
