4/6: In 1992 Earth Summit established The Rio Conventions, a framework to combat #biodiversity loss, #desertification, and #climatechange. However in the decades since, these phenomena continue to worsen.
5/6: Yet it is estimated that if we restored our biodiverse ecosystems and applied #regenerative systems, the economic benefits could exceed USD 125 trillion dollars annually.
6/6: The Rio Conventions: Restoring Balance with Nature for a Sustainable Future brought ministers, @UN officials, & #biodiversity specialists together to renew commitments and urge the international community to accelerate biodiversity protection.
