#BREAKING: The Nova Kakhovka Dam has been destroyed. The consequences of this are going to be drastic and grave. "It would be impossible to supply water to Crimea via the North Crimea Canal" - Head of Nova Kakhovka district. #ukraine #russia #novakakhovka #dam #crimea

A map below shows potential flooding consequences down stream of the dam. 80 towns, villages and cities are in danger of being under water in the coming hours. It is unclear who struck the dam at this time. This also drastically reduces water supply to Crimea. #russia #UkraineWar

‼️☢️Article of Zelensky talking about Russia staging a "false flag" on the Nova Kakhovka dam. He states that it could endanger the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by draining the reservoir it uses to cool. This is a global crisis unfolding. #ukrainewar

"Major General Kovalchuk considered flooding the dnipro river. The Ukrainians .. even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates, but the step remained a last resort. He held off." I guess we reached Kiev's last resort phase.

Water in the Kakhovka Reservoir has been steadily rising in the past few months putting strain on the dam. There was no reports of explosions or booms in the area of the dam leading up to it's destruction. Leading theory is water pressure destroyed the dam

Tass: The dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region has collapsed due to damage, the territory is being flooded. - So its confirmed, it was destroyed by rising water levels and previous damage sustained by Ukrainian shelling. #dam #ukraine #crimea

This video from last fall shows a Ukrainian strike on the dam that damaged it extensively. Article shows the mayor saying that they cannot effectively regulate the water due to damaged gates. Recent readings showed water 17m above normal in the reservoir. tass.com/emergencies/16…

Chart shows days leading up to dam failure. The water was rising to historic levels in the reservoir and previous Ukrainian shelling rendered the dam unable to cope with such strain leading to a structural failure. Note, no explosions or booms were recorded by locals. #ukraine

New satellite imagery shows a portion of road on the dam collapsed during the day before the destruction. Likely rising water eating away at structure with previous shelling damage from Ukraine. Further evidence shows water strain destroying the dam. #dam #ukrainewar #crimea

📹MEDIA: More detailed and close up footage being released of the remains of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. No evidence of fire and explosive damage or debris anywhere. #dam #ukraine #crimea #russia

Summary:
- Kakhovka Dam collapsed
- No reports of explosions when it was destroyed
- Water was at the highest level recorded at the Reservoir causing strain on already damaged dam
- Ukraine in the past targeted the dam with artillery and HIMARS causing damage.
