As byproduct of @BBCNews @sommervilletv #Raqqa investigation, we were also able to take a quick look over how #SDF, #FSA are respectively trying to capture runaway #IslamicState fighters. Their approaches varies.

@BBCNews @sommervilletv For example, a source close to the #SDF indicated that many former #IslamicState fighters are pardoned, through tribal guarantees, then inducted to identify IS deserters & fugitives on checkpoints. The village of #Karamah, S. of #Raqqa, is prime example.

@BBCNews @sommervilletv #FSA meanwhile r running a WhatsApp group populated by #Raqqa activists and #Turkey intel. At 1st #FSA checkpoint after #Manbij, males are photographed and a voice sample is taken. A live human database scrambles to assist. It is thus how @Northernbrigade caught Abu Musab.

@BBCNews @sommervilletv Here, a #Turkey backed #FSA interrogator asks a male passenger to give up his personal details on a voice note

@BBCNews @sommervilletv #IslamicState foreigners, however, are conspicuous. Thus they rely on greedy smugglers & corrupts #FSA (#Azaz) & #SDF (#TalRifaat) fighters to escape. Fees range from $4000/person to $20K/large family. Most end up in #DaratIzzah, W. #Aleppo.
