Thread: So I have to write an assignment in which I "identify a new technology that is currently influencing workplace education & training, provide a weblink that describes the new technology, & describe how the new technology is making an impact (+ve or -ve).
So although Twitter isn't really a "new" technology, if somebody isn't using Twitter it would be new to them, so I think that counts #edtech
I've been using Twitter for almost 5 years, and in that time, have connected with educators across the globe to share ideas, learn together and encourage each other.
Through Twitter, I’ve participated in conversations facilitated by industry leaders, respected authors and researchers who I would never have the opportunity to meet face to face.
Through Twitter I’ve received feedback, advice and encouragement from colleagues and mentors including @katevideo and @orielkelly.
Through Twitter I’ve shared with global educators in discussions about #LearningSpaces on a globally coordinated #TWalk (Walk, Talk, Tweet).
Through Twitter I’ve shared #CPD opportunities with my #CDUniStaff colleagues and broadened their horizons, and introduced them to new ideas and people.
Twitter has helped me share new resources with our amazing librarians @kath_nt ensuring our staff have access to great reading material.
Twitter provides access to regular news, industry updates and blog posts that help me explain topics to staff in creative ways.
I’m clearly not alone in finding Twitter useful for my workplace learning and #CPD: Twitter held the No 1 spot on @C4LPT’s Top 200 Tools for Learning list from 2009 – 2015, 3rd in 2016 and 5th in 2017. Vote for 2018 toptools4learning.com/voting-2018/
I participated in #altc through YouTube live streamed sessions and a vibrant Twitter back channel, connected with dozens of educators I hadn’t ‘met’ before
On Sunday evenings I often join with hundreds of #educators in #AussieEd another lively group (mostly K12) sharing in #CPD through chats on Twitter & ‘meet’ new people every week
