Sean Hannity and the end of the Fox News standards charade mm4a.org/4NT
Everyone has basically stopped expecting Fox to bother to enforce basic media ethics standards on its hosts, because it's obvious that they either can't or won't do so.
In 2010, they stopped Hannity from using his show to raise money for a tea party group; in 2016, when he appeared in a Trump ad, they said it wouldn't happen again. That wasn't much, but it was at least a nod toward standards.
Since Trump's election, that appears to have ended. From the Seth Rich segments, to the Michael Cohen calamity, to last night's appearance at a Trump rally, they aren't even trying to keep up appearances anymore.
In the unlikely event Fox News finally decides to take action, it would be long overdue -- and also completely out of character.
It's not just Hannity. Pirro, Dobbs, Carlson, and Ingraham -- all big favorites of Trump -- don't seem to have any real limits.
The much-vaunted "real reporters" at Fox are complicit in their behavior. The network's business model is hard-right propaganda; they are a fig leaf executives can point to in response to criticism.
Fox does not hold its stars to the most basic codes of ethical behavior, let alone the standard principles of journalistic conduct.

If you want accountability, your only option is to appeal directly to the network’s advertisers. #fin
