His answers to vetted questions are proving more interesting. Says one of the goals of yesterday's indictment of two Iranians for ransomware is to telegraph the US's capability to track down its creators. (Ransomware creators are rarely caught.)
Asks what keeps him up at night, he jokes "....yes," to substantial laughs. (This is a Georgetown law crowd.) His eventual answer was long but is basically how hard it is to prepare for cyber crimes.
Downing, speaking after Rosenstein jetted following his talk, is speaking far less diplomatically, espousing more of an iron first approach on abusable tech freedom issues than anything I've ever heard Rod say.
