With the end of year approaching, I thought I would do some analysis on the 62 police reports I've made so far to @metpoliceuk @MetCycleCops @MPSRTPC @london_cycling @psimonk @StopKillingCycl @DonnachadhMc Here is a break down of vehicle type:
Breakdown of the incident types. 43% of reports for mobile phone. Far too many people using their phones to some degree whilst driving. Second is red lights. Surprising? Everyone seems to think cyclists are bad, yet I'm catching out motorists doing it!
Still waiting on a few recent reports, but so far 64% of the reports have resulted in NIPs (notice of intended prosecutions) sent to the registered owners, requesting for who was driving so further action can be taken.
Here is a breakdown of incident type by response. You can see the vast majority of my 'No Action' responses are from mobile reports. This is usually because the video footage isn't clear enough for the police to take to court.
And now a breakdown of response grouped by vehicle type. Interesting that both my HGV reports resulted in no action being taken.
Difficult to read this one, but break down of incident, grouped by vehicle type. Vast majority of mobile phone offences are by car drivers (probably easiest to spot and most vehicle type that I see). HGV reports are red light and close pass.
The close pass HGV report was apparently not close enough, I measured it (conveniently happened over letters painted in the road), less than 1m distance between us and the red light I reported the incorrect VIN but VIN was visible, they didn't even watch it.
I can't think of what else to report on. I do have a load of stats available so can do more.
Only 6 of the NIPs have results so far. 2 driver awareness courses, 2 no action (cancelled by manager and other reported stolen), 1 FPN (3 points £100 fine) and 1 court case 9 points £250
