A Very Brief Introduction to Artificial Intelligence..... For Dummies like You and I #Thread
The world of innovative technology keeps evolving, an you have just two choices, you either be a part of the evolution or you get left behind, and trust me, getting left behind in this digital age is no way to go, why? You may not be able to do something as basic as sending texts
A lot is happening in the technological "realm", & even among the literate, these things sound like sorcery, I mean, imagine your reaction when you step into a room, and your favorite music comes on, the temperature of the room automatically adjusts to suit your body temperature
Imagine not knowing who Bill Gates is, getting an invite to his house, entering a suite that aut- adjusts to suit you- You would be like "What sorcery is this?" I remember driving a car, & the seat auto-adjusted to enhance my driving posture & all, I had to act like "I been knew"
So "Artificial Intelligence" or "AI"- I'm pretty see we may have seen the phrase on the internet or in movies, especially in movies- Hollywood knows how to take a scientific idea and turn it into a blockbuster movie before the scientific idea actually becomes a thing.
Remember i-Robot? Chappie? Eagle Eye? Echelon Conspiracy? Lucy? Okay even if you haven't seen those movies, you may have seen Iron Man, and the Avengers, remember Tony Stark's assistant JARVIS? The JARVIS dude could do almost anything, and could give any info in real-time
JARVIS (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System) is AI powered, & my friend who owns Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg) has the real-life JARVIS. So what is "Artificial Intelligence" anyway? It's very simple- It is basically the ability of computer systems to function like the human brain
functioning like the human brain involves the following:
-Reasoning
-Learning
-Decision Making
-Problem Solving
-Perception
Hence, AI seeks to enhance computer functions that are related to human knowledge.
Breaking down the objectives of AI a bit, here are some of them:
-Learning routines, processes, behaviors, patterns, and anything that can be learned
-Knowledge representation
-Realization
-Planning
-Decision making
-Natural language processing
-Manipulation and movement, etc
AI didn't just wake one day and become a thing- nope! "The idea of inanimate objects coming to life as intelligent beings has been around for a long time. The ancient Greeks had myths about robots, and Chinese and Egyptian engineers built automatons."-Livescience
The genesis of modern AI can started when some philosophers' tried to equate human reasoning with a symbolic architecture. However, AI became a formal thing in1956, at a conference where the name "artificial intelligence" was coined.
This is just a very brief introduction, so we do not have to go into the technicalities and all. AI can be applied to any industry and sector to help solve a myriad of problems.

Some everyday applications of aspects of AI you probably didn't pay attention to include the
arrangement of videos you watch on YouTube, have you noticed that it's like YouTube knows the particular type of videos you like and recommends videos based on what you've watched- Did you teach it or instruct it to do that? Obviously not, it has learned your taste in videos
Same thing for Facebook and so many others. Have you ever had a chat with someone about a product on like WhatsApp, and boom, you saw the advert of similar products on Facebook? Yeah, some of the big companies have access to "big data" (Google) & are able to implement AI using
different algorithms. I'm careful not to say some things YouTube, Facebook, etc have been able to do to irrational minds via suggestive videos et al (hehehe I didn't say much).

You have AI on your phone, modern phone cameras use AI (even my Tecno camera 😏, don't joke with me),
Your digital assistants Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, are AI (Have you tried to get romantic with Google Assistant? She's the Queen of curves, I've been a victim severally 😂😂😂) These digital assistants can learn your routines and patterns, thus handle some of your daily
Routines including online shopping on your behalf, calling, texting, driving instructions, control of smart devices, etc.

AI is broad, it's application is broad too.
Like all systems, it has it's pros and cons too.

Some people are of the opinion that AI could be the total
annihilation of the human race- oh well, na one thing go kill person last last- though I strongly doubt that's possible.

Anyway, this thread is just barely touching the surface about AI, now you have an idea 😉

Let the professionals come and explain better to us.

I had saved up some money and could not wait to leave my parent's house, and go start life on my on, and on my own terms. There was no pressure from them to leave, and being a good child, they knew I wasn't going to make irrational & irresponsible decisions, but I still felt like
my staying with them was not allowing me explore my gifts, and invariably making it difficult for me to discover myself and perhaps other hidden abilities.
Everyday I looked forward to the day I would tell them I was moving to my own apartment. I had this image in my head of me
in my place, in my space, with my taste in furnishings and interior decor, among other musings.
When I had saved up enough, I went through the daunting task of looking for a comfortable and affordable apartment in Lagos.
I traversed the nooks and crannies of Lagos in search of

"Do you believe in true love?" the lady beside me asked me as the aircraft began its cruise enroute Lagos. I looked out the aircraft window at the beautiful art nature was painting with the clouds, the sky and setting sun. I was an unapologetic nature lover, and nature was vast.
"Yes" I answered, turning to face her.
"Hmm... I think I've lost faith in its existence" She answered. That was not the type of conversation I wanted to have, considering I woke up in the morning to a breakup text from the one I thought was "the one", the umpteenth time.
"Oh well! Different strokes, different folks" I answered with a shrug, and looked out the window again, not wanting anything to come between me and the beautiful view I was seeing outside.
"It's beautiful!" the lady said. I looked at her, and she pointed at the window.
"Oh yeah"

Sleepy eyed and murmuring at the disturbance of what was a beautiful and dreamless deep sleep, I reached for my phone to see what the buzz was about.
I looked at the time "12:13am", tossed the phone aside, adjusted my pillows and changed my position. Few seconds later, I jumped
from the bed and looked for the phone under the duvet. What happened? Well, there was a lag in my processing the contents of my phone's notifications, and thus, an email was missed. Anyway, as I was about to sleep again, it hit me that one of the contents of the notifications was
an email from a company where I had been interviewed a week ago.
I retrieved my phone and alas! the email wasn't a figment of my sleepy imagination - I got the job!!!
I couldn't contain my happiness, but then, being somewhat of a loner, I didn't really have anyone to share the
