Our lawyer Mr Arun Natarajan has issued the following statement :-
The Income Tax department had alleged that a house property was not disclosed in the IT returns of Karti Chidambaram and his family members. The IT department’s complaint was challenged in the High Court, Madras. The HIgh Court quashed the complaint as baseless and illegal.
The Income Tax department has appealed against the judgment to the Supreme Court. While issuing notice, the SC expressly declined to stay the judgement of the HC.
Karti Chidambaram and others will appear in due course and contest the case.
