We're already in #EU, so you don't actually have to *go* there to be there.

And...

1) Nor usually can UK Parl - not even, I see, today.

2) You think there aren't lobbyists in London? Where have you been?

3) In UK we generally call them "dinner suits". Didn't you know that?
And, @Lugey6, is that really the best you can do?

The way you put it, it sounds like something a 12 year old would write in a school report about her trip to the beach.

You got nothing more interesting to say?
@Lugey6 And here's a screengrab, for your trouble.

Numpty.

Unless I have missed something, no one has spoken about the DPP @MaxHillQC re #PartyGate.

What responsibilities might he have in the matter? What are his powers, today?

Is he (still) able to intervene, and then direct police investigations, as DPP?

1/3
@BarristerSecret @MaxHillQC If (as seems likely) the Met is too compromised to be trusted to carry out the No10 investigation objectively, could he direct another police service to take the matter over?

(Historically, this has been possible; indeed, it has happened before; is it possible today?)

2/3
@BarristerSecret @MaxHillQC Why has he been under the radar on this?

James Slack has admitted that an illegal party took place in No10 on the eve of Prince Philip's funeral.

That is SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE to mount an investigation NOW.

You are REQUIRED to do this.

Failure to do so will be MISCONDUCT IN PUBLIC OFFICE.
@metpoliceuk @MetCC .@metpoliceuk

Slack used the word "PARTY" in his public admission.

This was a serious breach of the regulations in force.

If you do not investigate, Cressida Dick herself commits a likely offence - Misconduct in Public Office - and brings the law into disrepute.

@MaxHillQC
@metpoliceuk @MetCC @MaxHillQC .@MaxHillQC

You are the DPP.

Have you nothing to say about this matter?

You used to have the power to direct the police to conduct enquiries, and to supervise them as they do so.

Do you still have that power?

And, if so, will you now act upon it?

It's currently possible, within the #EU, to a minimum of 5%.

There are active plans to reduce this minimum to 0%.

Spain has done it already.

Correct or delete your tweet.

Here is part of an email, received just today, from EnergΓa XXI (formerly Endesa), a major Spanish domestic energy provider, proving that this is the case, and is being acted on right now.

I am sure your Castilian is up to it.

In case you do not have Castilian, the part I have highlighted says:

"The reduction of VAT from 21% to 10% for power supplies less than or equal to 10kW β€’is being extendedβ€’."

Would you like to correct your tweet?

@Tobias_Ellwood Mr Ellwood, I don't remember you sounding off when statues of Lenin, Saddam, various al-Assads, Hoxha, etc were toppled.

Oh, and here's a picture of UK REME engineers dismantling a Saddam statue on behalf of grateful locals.

Selective memory and concern on your part, perhaps?
@Tobias_Ellwood You would do well, as a non-lawyer, to read this well-argued piece by @barristersecret.

And then to reflect on your position on the matter.

@Tobias_Ellwood @BarristerSecret Please note:

Juries. Cannot. And. Do. Not. Set. Precedents. Ever.

Only the High Court can set a 'precedent'.

What I think you mean is: 'I don't like this verdict'.

And anti-slavery activism is not a C21 phenomenon, either.

As I say, this tweet is therefore unworthy of you.

@BorisJohnson has LIED at #PMQs at least twice today:

VAT on energy bills:

Denied saying inflation fears were unfounded. And yet he said it on 05/12/21:

How long are you going to let him cheapen democracy?
@CommonsSpeaker @BorisJohnson For more precision, @CommonsSpeaker, VAT on domestic fuel bills could have been reduced to 5% if the UK had remained in the #EU.

But, of course, Johnson does not even want to go that far.
