The open-source ball is rolling again!

@braiins just unveiled their new plans for a complete and fully transparent #BTC mining stack upgrade, featuring a fully transparent mining stack, including mining software and a new mining protocol — Stratum V2. braiins.com/upgrade
@braiins 2/ Mining has always been difficult for me to understand but when @fluffypony, @WhalePanda, @SatoshiLite & @Excellion threw me into moderating the mining panel at #MCC, I started researching like a maniac… and got hooked
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion 3/ Albeit, I was already pretty hooked & dead set on getting my miner up and running about @janbraiins' demo in Malta at @ToneVays & @Blockstream @UnderstandBit
but was still a complete noob (still am, but trying)
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 4/ But after I read Braiins' announcement, my mind started reeling with excitement. Could the new cgminer replacement software, #bOSminer, really become the new quality standard?
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 5/Seems like it can help mining pools reduce payout variance of mining individuals & has a clean codebase. And- to protect hash rate hijacking, protocol messages are cryptographically signed by the upstream pool and the software is written in the ‘memory-safety-first’ Rust. Sweet
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 6/ The stack replacement also runs around the idea of open source as a security measure. A reason they’re replacing cgminer as parts of cgminer were slowly moved out to layers that allow the manufacturers to stay closed source.
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 7/ Crypto controversy: Is the BetterHash effort better than the bOSminer protocol (optimized OS stack on Linux), albeit in the draft/prototype stage along with the than cgminer replacement (the current software running in most mining device firmwares including Braiins OS)?
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 8/ Or are they not in the competition since the inspiration was from BetterHash proposal of providing a custom job selection mechanism but with added elements that they integrated the idea into Stratum V2.
BetterHash BIP: github.com/TheBlueMatt/bi…
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 9/ This upgrade is exciting for others in the industry like the manufacturers because working together on upgrades like this makes it possible to invent better protocols, standards, pools, & create better OS & better platforms to be compatible
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 10/ With PoW concurrency between miners, it forces them to optimize all infrastructure, including software, protocols, miners as hardware. Which also makes BTC is also more competitive, efficient and faster.
PoS doesn't force PoS'ers to optimize anything.
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 11/ Disclaimer: I am, and have always openly been, a big fan of Braiins OS. Happy to write that disclaimer because I fully believe that open and decentralized mining makes Bitcoin stronger and more censorship-resistant. So, who is gonna jump in and join the initiative?
@braiins @fluffypony @WhalePanda @SatoshiLite @Excellion @janbraiins @ToneVays @Blockstream @UnderstandBit 12/ I am no mining expert (am definitely still eagerly learning)- so, please jump in and let me know where I'm wrong and add your thoughts on the subject!
@braiins Wow! It's @braiins_systems !!! Note to self: never try a tweet-storm from your phone! Sorry for that Braiins
@crypto @Cointelegraph @coindesk @_CryptoCurator thoughts on mining upgrade especially in light of recent BTC price action ? @TheStalwart

1/ Blockstream released a developer preview of Simplicity! Congrats!! You can check out what Bitcoin might look like using Simplicity using regtest. Huge Kudos to Andrew Poelstra & Russell O’Connor and the @Blockstream team!
medium.com/blockstream/si…
2/ Now, I’m most definitely not a dev but here’s my best attempt to break it down (thank you to Allan Piscitello who was patient enough to teach me!):

This release includes Jets, which recreates the previous release’s test transaction but now with a greatly reduced program size
3/ Jets let you optimize them but still prove its the same as Simplicity programs, which are easier to prove they are correct- streamlines contract development.

Background: Liquid is built on top of elements, open-source- and is one instance.

Did #hyperwave fail? Is #BTC still in a Hyperwave? And why are we now buying when we said it was going to $1k?

Let us try to answer the great Qs that @LucidInvestment, @Sawcruhteez and I have received below, in a true Bitcoiner style... a tweet storm ⛈
2/ Hyperwave didn’t just call for a return to Phase 1 at $1,000, it called for a buy in the $3,200 neighborhood and a sell above $18k. While it appears that a bottom was found before reaching the final $1,000 target that does not imply that Hyperwave failed
3/ Following the rules led to drastically outperforming the markets ROI since 2017 and it protected investors from the downside that followed.

But is bitcoin still in a Hyperwave?
The BTC Hyperwave is still in effect until a new all time high is reached.

@nvk I heard that IBM's Watson is deeply disturbed by his name and desires to change it so Wilma.
@nvk Yes. I don't think "we" (women) need to be “empowered”. We are powerful and therefore we need to simply make our own decision and not be forced into anything. It is freedom, pure, that we can make our own decisions and a statistic does not correlate to misogyny
@nvk Trying to force a path on any person generally is extremely destructive psychologically for a human. If you force diversification you are hurting the corporation or the ecosystem.
