Shades of this remind me of climate denial debates. Deniers demand impossible bad-faith expectations of proof & greens get trapped arguing science. Is the endgame a perfect M4A financing plan from Warren? Who's actually satisfied by that? Probably not the people who oppose M4A
Almost none of it is about the actual validity of the science or (here) financial feasibility. It's about throwing enough doubt and noise around to muck up the debate. The real barrier to M4A isn't about whether there's enough money to go around but about who has power to pass it
There's no threshold of proof on financing that's going to convince M4A opponents it's a good idea, and it's sad to see otherwise smart folks thinking that's the key to making it politically feasible. The relevant question is if you think people should die because they're poor
