Shivaji and Netaji Palkar - Story about Shivaji's common sense and what he REALLY thought of Brahmins.

Netaji and Shivaji were childhood friends. Grew up together. Fought together. Netaji was a top general in Shivaji's army.

When Shivaji was arrested by Aurangzeb in Agra, so was Netaji. Shivaji escaped (another great story), but Netaji couldn't. Aurangzeb made him an offer.

Said fight from my side, convert to Islam and I will make you a general.

Jaan pyaari thi, Netaji agreed and fought for Aurangzeb in Afganistan as Mohammed Kuli Khan. But he missed home a lot, so he deserted and came back to Shivaji.

Told him the truth, said I want to be Netaji Palkar again, I want to fight for Swaraj again.

Shivaji said OK.

But the Brahmins of the time (assholes even then), said Shiv Shiv Shiv. A Muslim can't become Netaji Palkar again.

Shivaji said, there must be some pooja and mantra or something that will make this happen.

Response was a firm no.

So Shivaji proposed, let me get you all the religious books you need, you check and then confirm. Brahmins said, not necessary, but sure.

He put all the Brahmins in a room with all the religious books and *locked the doors".

Aadhe ghante mein kisi ko susu lag gayi. The door didn't open. The Brahmin said, I want to pee, open the door. The doorman responded, not until you find that mantra/pooja, that's most important.

6 ghante mein bhook lag gayi, pyaas lag gayi.

The response was still the same. Darwaja na khulna.

Fir Brahmanoon ki G khul gayi :) and as you can imagine, the Brahmins found a pooja/mantra to convert Mohammed Kuli Khan back to Netaji Palkar.
