Just took some time of new year so far to finish a book I started - Boyd: goodreads.com/book/show/3884… - man, this is a story (with some flaws most likely but anyway - good read). I will take some time to dump some thoughts 1/n
First of all it is a great story on personal level - if you know someone in Holywood or at Netflix let them know, it might be hell of the movie or series about everything which is described in the book about military, fighters, air force, politics - it has it all
2/n
It would make also a great movie focused on a single person as John Boyd. I would watch it (if it counts, I already pay Netflix so probably not in their target for new subscribers
3/n
I knew little about John Boyd before, other than his name was mentioned in the context of #OODA loop. It pop-up when you will start to read about strategy in the business from time to time (still I think not many heard about it) 4/n
OODA Loop is small part of the story. It is mostly about the man who pursuits his work with "TO BE or TO DO" attitude, a fighter pilot and strategist on a mission. For me it was page turner 5/n
I also had to look up a lot on references around Korean and Vietnam war or planes and history like F-4, F-14 and F-16. Knowing more about military and history in this area probably makes it even better
6/n
A grain of salt is that it is one hell of ode to Boyd. I would like to see a bit of how it was seen from other side. Also some fact checking or references. Would make it better but still it is great read
7/n
Even if you are not interested in OODA and background about it just pick it up for the sake of interesting biography and another piece of view on history of modern world from another angle
8/n
It is interesting to see how one man with a lot of determination can do if he is not bothered with "TO BE" status and has strategic view and curiosity 9/n
I would look for more of his works and references to it, just want to see what was the outcome of it. It is a pity that we don't have recording of his "briefings" to watch right now
10/n
One thing not related to Boyd's work: At the begining there are Polio references which crippled Boyd's sibbling and kid - just give it to the anti-vax people to read :). We forgot about it. 11/n
All in all - great book, one of the best I read in the 2019(20). If you want to read great story and at the same time get to know more about author of #OODA Loop or to start your curiosity about it - just get it.
12/12

THREAD: Yesterday I gave a talk at #ITechDays on #Security approach in a #Cloud with #Azure context.
Here is key points and promised links and references.
DISCLAIMER: I'm MVP and RD but it isn't based on NDA info. My opinions only.
It might be wrong. You are warned.
I needed a space to deploy simple web page over weekend. Requirements:
- static web page
- custom domain (apex)
- HTTPS enabled.
I gave a try to #Azure storage as a web hosting. Thread: (hint: documentation sucks at least a bit).
1/
Storage: simple, yet useful service in all #cloud. #Azure storage host static website:
Pro: simple, cheap, custom domain
Con: No HTTPS for custom domain
Basic setup: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/st…
- Create storage account
- Enable web hosting
- Change public access level
Done. Works.
I have DNS zone on #Azure DNS. No apex ("naked") domain support. How to overcome HTTPS and custom zone support?
Go for #Azure CDN service - in my case, Verizon premium (rules). It might take some time to provision it.
Basic setup: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cd…
Hi, in 3 min I'm going live with @PredicaExperts on short AMA. If you have questions about tech, company, running business, meaning of life ... join us :)!
I reflected over coffee about my learning process today. It changed and formed into a funnel process:
👉 discover and acquire
👉 refine
👉research go deep
The most significant change over the years: go wider than deep.
(short thread)
Acquire has changed. Mostly get initial information and news from my info-bubble:
👉 Twitter (very efficient)
👉 Linkedin feeds
👉 Direct media feeds (very little)
👉 Peers recommendation (a lot)
It feeds my refinement funnel.
Then filtering it into refining funnel:
👉 Watch/Read
👉 Ideas
👉 Research.
Watch/Read - I started to store it in @RoamResearch recently.
Very efficient for my personality and the way I save and consume information.
