In the early morning #AlarmPhone received a distress call from a boat with 47 people fleeing #Libya. They are in Maltese SAR Zone. Authorities in #Malta are informed but refuse to tell us if they are launching a rescue operation. The people must be urgently rescued to #Europe! 
We are in contact with the people on the boat & they are worried. They left Zuwara, #Libya, 30h ago & now the engine is not working. They are drifting with no life vests & no rescue in sight. They already survived 2 nights at sea: #Malta, don’t let them drown! @Armed_Forces_MT
8:51 CET. We just talked to the people on the boat. They say there is water entering the boat and they are very afraid that no one will come to help them. Some people cry in the background. They are asking for help and they need urgent rescue! Why is nobody searching for them?
We are glad that #Moonbird is on scene, monitoring the status of the boat and confirming their current position. #Malta promised they would send a rescue vessel. We hope that rescue will arrive very soon and without delays. Every delay at sea can be lethal! @seawatch_intl

@seawatch_intl @Armed_Forces_MT All 47 people were rescued by the Armed Forces Malta and have been disembarked in #Malta. We are relieved they survived their odyssey. Now we wish them good luck in their struggle to find the safety and freedom they need.
