This actual person actually did this incredibly stupid & inhumane thing not because of any kind of mental illness (although maybe) but because he believed one of the many conspiracy theories circulating dangerously close to the right-wing media universe

As with so many other things reasonable people might write off as "crazy," it was a rational act *if* you truly believe the "alternative facts" as presented that #COVID19 is a massive deep state conspiracy to end Trump & impose radical socialism. This shit is literally killing us

can you even *believe* that the guy who was elected on a promise to end all Muslim immigration is putting a *temporary hold* on *some immigrant visas*
I don't mean to be insensitive to the immigrant visa recipients who will now have to wait to enter the world's largest #covid19 preserve, but there is a wholeass Grand Canyon between what Trump & media were promising and... this, and I guess you just have to laugh at some point

1/ The so-called Trump #immigrationban is nowhere near that, and is really hardly anything at all. The population most immediately affected (for 2 months) will be parents of U.S. citizens, among the group of immigrants least likely to be competing with American labor.
2/ As previously discussed in this space, the provision of law which controls these things allows the President to suspend any (and ALL) immigration "for such period as he shall deem necessary"--in this case, 60 days.

60... days.

I have questions.

3/ Does Trump really believe that the American economy will be open for business in 60 days?

Corallary: does he believe that the relatively narrow group of immigrants who would have been able to enter the US on these visas would be *taking our jobs* within the next two months?
