1/ The so-called Trump #immigrationban is nowhere near that, and is really hardly anything at all. The population most immediately affected (for 2 months) will be parents of U.S. citizens, among the group of immigrants least likely to be competing with American labor. 
2/ As previously discussed in this space, the provision of law which controls these things allows the President to suspend any (and ALL) immigration "for such period as he shall deem necessary"--in this case, 60 days.

4/ I mean sure, great, truly--but how monstrous would this thing have been *without* this exception? I can just imagine him sitting back and waiting for our adulation for remembering to exclude the people who are barely holding our healthcare system together

6/ Just wait 'til we learn from the next round of palace intrigue that #StephenMiller put up a fight to keep military families and foreign nationals who worked with the US military in Iraq & Afghanistan (2nd category here) out, you know he put up a fight there

10/ BREAKING: we go now live to Donald Trump's Twitter feed, where U.S. media is now taking a run at understanding a major policy announcement in a complex, multifaceted, politically-charged field of U.S. which implicates a half-dozen agencies which don't know wtf he's on about.
11/ See you next time the President of the United States tweets out an announcement that coffee is now a schedule I controlled substance or tries to knight Joe Exotic or whatever, let's all be sure to continue to take this very serious person as seriously as possible
12/ N.B.: I guess I should mention that most people enter the U.S on non-immigrant (tourist/business/student) visas and all this does is promise to take a look at that. Not that you were confusing it for one, but this is not a serious public health proposal
