As I reflect on where we could have been as a country if we eschewed selfishness, I'm reminded of paragraph three of the great Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream". Our 1966 Constitution is a promisory note for all of us. But the value is different
And very low for the majority poor who were promised social justice and a better life for all. In the light of the vicious Covid-19, that promise has receded and manifests in pain now. Plse Google the speech.
@CyrilRamaphosa @DDMabuza
In my understanding, a political party in power can only deliver on the constitutional promisory note if its political philosophy is underpinned and driven by a high level of consciousness for social justice. I've seen nothing to convince me ANC has it.
If it did have it; why have Poverty, Unemployment and Inequality increased in the past decade? Why have investment and business confidence declined? Why have we experienced flat economic growth and finally a junk status? Plse reflect deeply.
Did it require the viciousness of Covid-19 to spur @LindiweSisuluSA into action and provide water to communities where it was long promised and yet not delivered? The same for Trump. His US Surgeon General Gerome Adams disclosed, standing next to him, that
action will start immediately to deal with housing, sanitation and access to public health among African Americans who lead the suffering from Covid-19. Why is this? Simple: Parties in power are not
motivated by a high level of consciousness for social justice. I hope that President Ramaphosa has reflected deeply on this. I also pray that this moment has changed him. The highly congested informal settlements must end soon. They are a disgrace. Period
