0/ One-third of food produced globally (1.3 billion tonnes) is lost or wasted every year.
If food waste could be represented as a country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas emitter, behind China and the U.S.
What can we do to limit the waste during #COVID19?
40 degrees F (4 degrees C) for refrigerator.
0 degrees F (-18 degrees C) for freezer.
"use by" = follow date guidelines on perishable items such as dairy products, meat and fish.
"best used by" = food is still good to eat, but may not be at peak of freshness.
Egg = if you have eggs with a recently expired date, drop the egg in a glass of water. If the egg sinks, it’s still safe to eat. If the egg floats, you’ll want to pass on using it.
Milk = a simple sniff test for spoilage.
Banana bread. 🍌
Smoothies. 🥤
Vegetable soup. 🍲
Fermented goodness. 🥛
Apple / white grape juice = white wine in recipes.
Lemon + milk = buttermilk.

Avocado pits = avocado tree and endless avo toasts. 🥑
Green onion ends = free green onion.
Celery bits = fresh celery (my favorite!).
