Thank you to @ICNARC who have published data on the first 5578 critically ill patients in the NHS. I've summarised some of their publication in this thread below: #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc Original here: icnarc.org/Our-Audit/Audi…
The data does not include Scottish ICUs - but does for Eng, Wales and NI. To date (yday) there have been 6664 ICU admissions due to COVID19. The largest cohort being in London. There is also cumulative data of numbers by date. #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
You can see the *current* distributions of cases across England, Wales and NI #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
Interesting demographics show that currently 72% of ICU patients are male. 65% of critically ill patients are white. More info from Gov about ethnicity demographics can be found here: ethnicity-facts-figures.service.gov.uk/uk-population-… #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
The median ICU admission age is 60 years old. The majority of patients had a BMI >25. The average BMI in England (adults) is 27.5 in 2018. #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc healthsurvey.hscic.gov.uk/data-visualisa…
Indicators of acute severity shows that 51% of patients had a paO2/FiO2 ratio between 13.3-26.6kPa (100-200 mmHg) - previously this metric has been used to predict mortality in ARDS (thanks to @LITFLblog) litfl.com/pao2-fio2-rati… #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
@ICNARC have also stratified the data based on advanced resp support and basic resp support. #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
Critical care unit outcomes have been received for only 2936 (of 5578) patients, of whom
1499 patients have died and 1437 have been discharged alive from critical care. This data will change when outcomes for all patients are accounted for. #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc
Of course, those who have received only basic resp support in critical care, tended to fare better. #covid19 #covid19foam #foamed #FOAMcc This data set will of course change on accounting for all outcomes, at a later date.
