Reading @HC_Richardson #HowTheSouthWonTheCivilWar passage discussing US founding:

The founders excluded minorities, women, & the poor leaving “a minority of people running the government, a body politic dedicated to the needs of [white] men of property.”

Sad GOP is this in 2020
1980 GOP:
"I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of the people. They never have been from the beginning of our country & they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."
From 1776 to 2020 the push to maintain white supremacy remains the same. Thank you *radical revisionist historians* for telling the full, and true story of how our society was formed and still operates today.
And we are sadly seeing the devastating results of 400 years of white supremacist policy play out in the #Covid_19 crisis. The dots all connect...
We have had so many points in our history to correct our original sin of slavery. Reconstruction was a massive missed opportunity. Poor whites could have united with blacks for justice & the north could have kept enslavers from power, but they didn’t.
6 million Blacks fled the Jim Crow South to the north and west creating black emclaves in Boston, New York, Detroit, Portland, Los Angeles, etc...only to suffer racism from whites in those cities as well.
So their reward for seeking a better life was #redlining to keep them confined to small areas of these cities where they sought refuge from Jim Crow.
So my profession built a system of highways through these redlined communities while opposing transit to further punish these black communities for existing creating a crushing #CarDependancy that harms our economy and health today.
To further punish blacks, whites protested on a massive scale across USA to oppose school integration. Conservative *activist supreme court* judges sanctioned fictional funding boundaries of city/suburb to justify segregation ignoring undelying root cause

So while conservative whites benefit from regional & federal (socialist) funding of highways to travel from their gated communities to cities, they argue it is un-American socialism to fund schools, housing, & transit the same way to preserve their status.
I am hopeful that this crisis will allow us to step back and see the larger narrative of how our society was and is created. That cheap parking shouldn’t be a human right over affordable housing.
That we should stop subsidizing billionaires across the board and invest in our communities.
We should reform our 1950s white flight highway program and rededicate that money to reinvest in our cities and fix this real, and intentional legacy of harm.
This reform should also fix the harm caused by our extraction economy throughout rural areas. Communities that now can’t afford clean water, safe housing or good schools because we let corporations bleed them dry. ://twitter.com/schlthss/status/1201293934791667712?s=21
Rural areas need successful urban areas and vice versa for our society to thrive. Let’s heal GOP engineered divide & help each other. Sarah’s story resonated with my own rural bullshit I’m a *self-reliant* conservative (while poor & on welfare) upbringing
