4/21/20 UPMC

We haven't seen a pattern in central or western Pennsylvania that looks like other places. In all facilities ...case levels have not reached high levels we prepared for. They remain at levels that are low, consistent & manageable..

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has 118 patients hospitalized with #COVID-19 infections, Not a significant increase from last week. They discharged 130 patients with COVID-19 who received some type of hospital care. People are recovering, even those who are more sick.
UPMC has a 5,500 bed, 40 hospital system, & across that system, only 2% of their hospital beds are occupied today with patients with #COVID19 infections.
Only 8% of UPMC ICU beds are occupied by #COVID19 patients. Only 7% of those ICU patients are using a ventilator from UPMC's entire ventilator capacity. They have no inpatients who are pediatrics with COVID19 infections.
In the past week, for patients who have symptoms, UPMC positivity rate of #COVID19 is 6.6%. That compares to a positivity rate of 12% for patients with symptoms when they first started. They are now on the other side of what many predicted would be their worst week.
UPMC's "Pearl Harbor", the very high rate they prepared for simply hasn't happened.
