I was taught that Gd is #perfect, #infallible, #allknowing and #omnipresent.
If this is the #truth, then it means all #life has inherent #value. If we are made in Gd’s image, and since He created all, then we were meant to become more than we are. There is divinity within us.
He endowed us free will not so we would simply turn around and worship Him as a deity for all eternity but so we could finish the good works He began in us. All we need do is accept the inherent goodness, enlighten ourselves, and spread love and light. It was
a gift He bestowed on His way toward the next creation of the next beautiful universe, and on and on, forever expanding. There is a beauty so profound in this idea.
The Deists were saying He was like a clockmaker. He wound us all up and let us go, leaving us free will & Reason. No longer intervening. These are tools He gave us to prepare. I perceive Gd as an artist, with the temperament of an artist.
He went on to create great, wonderful & frightening things, and perhaps other beings. Compulsively. Instinctively. He does this because that is what He does & one only need to observe nature to
sense His love, and his frustration. Surely, a Father, yes, as well as an artist. A mysterious figure who seems so close and yet is actually far beyond the stars. A Great Caretaker, a Divine Gardener, hoping his seedlings have sprung up. And if Jesus be Messiah, then
Deists are slightly off, but that could be good! Because it means our Lord IS not gone for good. Some say there are angels. I believe in them, in one for another. Heralds. Harbingers.
Cool stories, but let’s say He’s on his way & we know how long it took Voyager to get home at Max warp. He’s stopping off here and there to see how everything is going, we’re on His cosmic radar, and now He’s heard about this quarantine business and it’s time to
check in on Earth & see how his fave FREE WILLING, REASONABLE bipedal species is developing.
What have we to show for all these thousands of years?
Actually, we have done some incredible things, good things. Things we can be proud of
but wouldn’t it be great to be able to leap up and down like little Jimmy waving his first Little League Penant in the breeze and say to Daddy:
We did it!!
We overcame greed. We overcame it allknow it’s possible.
I have FAITH.
I am proud of the Abaddon team. Here’s why. We have managed to put together a wonderful team of veteran sci fi rockstars as well as incredibly powerhouse women and people of colour. Pete and I didn’t have agents when all this began.
I’d long given up trying to
“Break through” as they say, and had committed myself to education, but education kept pushing me away and I didn’t understand.
But it was a sign all along.
Now I know why I am here.
My purpose has never felt so clear.
I am in the world to change the world.
I’m here to inspire 7 billion people to become the best version of themselves possible by creating things that truly matter, giving back, loving and encouraging others to do the same. #leavenormalbehind with me.
What's so ironic about all of this is that EVERYONE knows it doesn't have to be this way.
We have a 50-yearlong storied and iconic franchise that has inspired nearly all of our extant technology and "progress"....what's sad to me is that we've spent BILLIONS of dollars
investing in something that most fans think can never actually be achieved in our lifetime.
That's sad.
If you're a Star Trek fan and you think we can't make Star Trek a reality in our lifetime, you're missing the whole point.
We don't need WWIII or #FirstContact w/aliens
in order to make the world work more similarly to the way it does in @StarTrek.
Why not? Well, #1 problem in our world is hunger. We have 3D printers we can make guns with, but not food? I'm sure we're well on our way with lab-grown meat eh?
What's next?
