What's so ironic about all of this is that EVERYONE knows it doesn't have to be this way.
We have a 50-yearlong storied and iconic franchise that has inspired nearly all of our extant technology and "progress"....what's sad to me is that we've spent BILLIONS of dollars

investing in something that most fans think can never actually be achieved in our lifetime.
That's sad.
If you're a Star Trek fan and you think we can't make Star Trek a reality in our lifetime, you're missing the whole point.
We don't need WWIII or #FirstContact w/aliens

in order to make the world work more similarly to the way it does in @StarTrek.
Why not? Well, #1 problem in our world is hunger. We have 3D printers we can make guns with, but not food? I'm sure we're well on our way with lab-grown meat eh?
What's next?

Ah, poverty. Which has to do w/the fact that people believe work = value and those who can't work are lazy/weak. Caste systems. Class warfare. We inherently believe MAN is BAD and must be kept in check. This is our first mistake.

If we were to remove all of the socioeconomic and political barriers that stand in our way, we could simply allow the #COVID #PANDEMIC to be our watershed moment. We could truly #LEAVENORMALBEHIND.

We could #truly #transform our #society into a more #utopian if we accepted our #goodness. If we #forgave our #horror-filled past. If we recaptured our #democracy, we could make it happen. But it would take #ALLOFUS, or the overwhelming #majority, which I believe we have now.

We cannot raise our children and families in fear. We have to DO SOMETHING to show them it doesn't have to be this way anymore. Nothing like this has ever happened. Even World War II didn't stop the world's economy--it had the opposite effect.

It's possible. Everyone knows money is the greatest evil, but is it money itself or Man? Well, it's both. You tell a man he's bad and has to slave away, then he must compete with others? Compete??? WHY? Work together, collaborate. Half the world's cultures are collectivistic for

a reason. No, we don't NEED hard $. The Federation gets along fine without it. We built and establish consortiums. The Federal government could be an extraordinary engine of innovoation inspiration and public service if we were to reconstitute it with a truly altruistic group of

people from ALL backgrounds, walks of life, and especially those who have AMAZING ideas. The more diverse, the better. We could redraft our Constitution...we could really do it. I believe it. Wholeheartedly.

We all just have to want it badly enough. We all have to be willing to give up just a little something. We have to believe in values-based currency. #leavenormalbehind.

We spent all our lives, time and money propping up an entire franchise that is based on utopian ideals and yet no one I ever talks to believe it'll ever happen unless we were crippled the way @StarTrek's human history timeline shows---with ANOTHER world war?

I put it to you that we're there. Now. Never have we been more divided, more distrustful of each other and of our government. It doesn't seem like it can get better unless the right leaders come into play to put meaningful action into the space. We don't even know if our

#election results can be trusted. People are dying, and our government's leaders are showing us every day how close we are to entering into a nationalistic, religious right-dominated court system. Pandemics present opportunities for power grabs. While the #COVID crisis rages on,

no one is paying attention to what is actually happening to the three major bodies that make up the government. How are we ever going to recover when our republic is inherently sick? We have to stir ourselves and our young to action.

Think about this.....all this money we can just print and say is worth whatever we say it is, and then we say it's worth less if there's more of it out there. Are you kidding me????? If everyone got 1 million to start life off with, don't you think things might be a BIT diff?

Yeh. But somewhere along the line, people woke up--it was called the Age of Reason....and decided people aren't all bad. We are all capable of doing bad things, but as human beings, we have free will

so if everyone loves Star Trek and wishes it were real, then what's really stopping us? I recently watched the new hit series on @HBO called Years and Years. It's terrifiying. Think about how close we really are to a world akin to The Handmaid's Tale. Populism was

already on the rise in Europe. We have a chance to sit down, really pause and think about what's happening and how we got here.....and how wrong and silly it all has been. How plain foolish we have been. But if anything is to change, we have to

acknowledge our own complicity and then acknowledge our power. our government derives its power from the PEOPLE, not the President. To prop up an entire society on DEBT. Car loans, home loans. People became greedy......so no. We don't all need to be millionaires.

People just need enough to take care of themselves and their families, and have enough to be able to create memories and enjoy life. That's not asking for too much. And every human life is worth something. ALL LIFE is precious.

Star Trek explores this concept throughout the entire franchise. What is good, what is bad. It's about perspectives. Society created the conditions, but don't forget: WE ARE SOCIETY. Society is US. Society is you. It's me. It's us. It's WE, and only WE can change the course for

the future of our planet, and our people. Millions of people watch Star Trek as an escape. Here's a thought. Let's not use it to escape. Let's use it as a template, a blueprint. Let's model our NEW NORMAL off of it.
