#Lockdown
Made a thread of videos explaining our fundraiser on why cloth pads.
#Grateful to @orikalankini for partnering & @madhuriketa for getting me into this!
Plz don't go by my word or face value. Feel free to check all the information on internet, consult fellow social workers, etc.
This is purely limited to my understanding over the last 3 years only.
Every menstruator needs approx. 20 pads per cycle. It's highly recommended that pads are changed after every 6 hours.
So, 5 years
Disposable pads: 1,200
Cloth pads: 5 - 10
Each disposable pack of 20 pads costs 115/-
Each cloth pad costs around 100/-
For 5 years:
Disposables: 6,900/-
Cloth pads: 500/- avg.
(We are fundraising approx. 300/- per person cuz it's charity :( )
Soft breathable fabrics in cloth pads
Disposable ones are plastic, itchy, cause chafing, etc.
Cloth pads CNA decompose under a year I guess
Whereas disposable ones take 800 years!
The women we are reaching are sanitary workers, migrant workers, labourers etc. and they are most likely already using piece of cloth.
All we are doing is partnering with NGOs and providing better versions for safer and healthier reasons.
