After receiving a message that I will be among the awardees at the Obafemi Awolowo University OAU (ile_ife)..I was very surprised at everything because I have never been to OAU or ile-ife.

..its a Great Privilege 🤗🙏

#Grateful 🙏

16 years ago I quit a perfectly nice tech management career to try and become a writer and speaker.

1000+ blog posts, 100s of talks and 7 books later I'm still here - thanks to all who have followed along, helped me pay the bills and encouraged me along the way. #grateful
This personal essay from 2005, when my first book was published explains how I felt about quitting then:

An embarrassing side story: the day of my exit interview for @Microsoft, which I was well prepared for with fdbk, I showed up to the HR building and was told... they'd forgotten about me! The person scheduled to do it quit the prior week and I fell through the cracks :)

Most traders struggle with the same issues. Getting in too soon-or to late or not taking a loss when we should have as a result turned it into a much bigger one or not getting out of good trades too quickly or not taking profit when we should only to turn the trade into a loser
2-or getting stopped out and have the market run back in my direction. When I began my career off the floor onto the screens I sat with my notebook and screens and me. The markets go up or down or sideways. Nothing I could change there. What I worked on was managing my positions
3-these errors and mistakes were all rooted in fear for me. Fear of losing money, fear of being wrong or missing a move or leaving money on the table. I had to relearn-or to transfer the skills I had on the floor to managing positions on the screen. I have to accept price action

Here comes the much awaited thread of the top ten lesson that I learned in 2018. Some of them I knew already, but they became even more important this year. Every experience, good or bad, is a lesson and we only fail if we miss the lesson. Here we go #My2018Lessons
Lesson 1: 1. There is a strength in being outside the establishment or someone that is seen as being naive or new to the culture/game because only you can have the audacity to play the game differently from how it has been played historically. #My2018Lessons #blessed #grateful
Lesson 2: Being an underdog and a misfit gives you the freedom to try things that no one else has ever dreamt of. This may attract criticism and that’s okay, as long as you are authentic. Just keep doing YOU, the underdog. #My2018Lessons #blessed #grateful

To my #TrueFriends;I #appreciate you all

To those who showed me love;I am #grateful

To those who hurt me;I #ForgetAndForgive
To Those whom I May have inadvertently hurt( I can never do so by purpose); I'm so sorry, please #Forgive me

To those who challenged me; lets do it again

To those I showed #love to; I still love you and #IAlwaysWill
To those Who feel I helped them; #GodBlessYou and a request to remember to help someone in need
To those who helped me; I am so #Grateful & will reciprocate in due course

2018 was a year of loss & pain (I cried a lot); a year of laughter & celebration and a year of learning & growth. This week I will share some of the highs/lows, as well as opportunities & lessons. I’ll also share picture of some of the phenomenal people I have met. Thread 1:
Losing our 20 year old son to a car accident in Feb is something that we will never recover from. Getting notification that i was shortlisted for VC job just 2 days before the burial and then coming back to work to face the excruciating recruitment process was just too much!
Thank God I survived! I am grateful to all the colleagues & friends - for the hugs, encouraging messages, reassuring conversations & smiles. They helped me keep my head up. Thanks to all the very many amazing people at UCT who came through for me during my time of need 🙏🏾

This has been one of the most exciting weeks for all of us at
@NCDCgov. The signing of the #NCDCBill has been a seven-year dream for many people. Finally, we have a legal mandate to continue protecting the health of Nigerians
#NCDCSundayReflections
Monday November 12- Long flight from #IMED2018 panel in Vienna, to @AFENETAfrica Ministerial meeting/conference in Maputo. While reflecting on the engagements and what it meant for @NCDCgov, the good news came- Mr President had announced the signing of the #NCDCBill
The #NCDCAct means a lot to us and for the country. It means our national public health institute has improved access to required specialised resources to protect the health of Nigerians. One we recognise with a high sense of responsibility

November is a good month for gratitude. #Grateful.
"Real Gratefulness, the kind of transformative thanksgiving that makes all things new, cannot be quiet in the face of injustice. If we embrace the sort of gratitude that changes our individual lives, it will revolutionize our political lives as well." (from Grateful, p. 139)

There's been so much hype about #Zanzibar, but at the same time, a few people weren't particularly thrilled. Had to go find out for myself ,so some friends and I planned a trip. What I think? Top rating for beaches, good food, so much to see, history. Read this thread... #Travel
From #DaresSalaam, you have the options of flying or going by ferry to #Zanzibar. On the other hand, you could fly directly there. We spent a few days in Dar, then we went by ferry...it cost $35 per person for economy and $50 per person for VIP. We travelled in the VIP section.
It takes 1hr30mins to get to Zanzibar by ferry. It could take longer when it's turbulent. The hotel we stayed in was an hour away from stone town. We stayed in Nungwi which is North of Zanzibar. #Travel #Africa #Tanzania #holidays

I read a short #InspiringStory and found it #TooGoodNotToShare...

A famous writer was in his study room. He picked up his pen and started writing :

✖️Last year, I had a surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay stuck to the bed due to this surgery for a long time
✖️The same year I became 60 years & had to give up my favourite job.I had spent 30 years of my life in this publishing company.

✖️The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.
✖️And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in bed at hospital with the cast on for several days. The destruction of car was another loss.

At the end he wrote:
✖️✖️Alas! It was such bad year !!
