The following U.S. states currently remain at significant risk of #Covid_19 outbreak--that is, their most recent daily infection count is within 7 days of their approximate daily peak infection count, peak is within 3-5 days (starred), or is within 1-2 days of peak (double-star):
(note: anomalously high 1-or-2 day periods aren't considered effective peak infection...this is not about playing statistical games, it's about assessing a crisis)

33 states out of 51 are not even 7 days away from their peak daily #COVID19 infections. So should we open up the country soon and let thousands more die?
Should we let even ONE person die because the lunatic in the White House told them they could drink bleach to be healthy?
OK...so now that Donald Trump has expressly refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose the election to Joe Biden (𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭), some things now need to be said very clearly.

1 First of all, when the sitting US President (chief of the entire military) threatens to not leave office 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 should we vote him out, we're not talking abt a scathing editorial in the NY Times here.
It means people are going to die. 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘦𝘴. 𝙐𝙨.
2 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲. I assert this truth not bc of wishful thinking, personal jealousy, nor junkie desire for another hit off the ORANGE MAN BAD pipe.
Far from being "intoxicated with liberal outrage", I have never been more sober in my life.
If you’re wearing a mask in public to avoid catching #COVID, your NOSE is more important to cover than your closed mouth if your mask doesn’t cover both.
Obviously, what you should do is get a better mask, but your nose is a hole that is always open. Your mouth has a natural shield that closes, called your lips.
I mean, it’s nice that you’re considerate enough to cover your mouth to show others you don’t want to spread it, but if you really want to avoid contracting it, cover all parts of your face that suck in air.
And now...a VP pitch you haven’t heard before!!
NM Gov Michelle Lujan Grisham would be a very capable & competent chief exec & partner to @JoeBiden. She’d reflect our ethnic/gender diversity as modern Dems & Americans. ...
Gov. Lujan Grisham has a demonstrated ability to speak to the entire political spectrum (i.e. all the way from the liberal socialist Dems to conservative anti-Trump Repubs).
She’s a trusted, catastrophe-tested, battle hardened, just plain likable leader of diverse Americans.
And most importantly, Gov. Lujan Grisham’s broad appeal, soothing charm, and political skill provides us the real chance to retain the White House & just as importantly, DEFEND THE FRAGILE SENATE MAJORITY THAT WILL ALLOW US TO REMAKE THE ENTIRE FEDERAL JUDICIARY.
I used to think of myself as a strong liberal. But reality is not like that. Now I’m something else.

2/ That’s based on what general policy outcomes I would consider ideal if we had unlimited support and resources. In a better world I would have supported Bernie Sanders.
3/ The more time I spent on “liberal” news sites, the more I came to realize that preaching for progress was meaningless if you refused to help actually get anything done.
If outrage was your goal, progress was not.
(thread)There’s clearly a big push at the moment to properly acknowledge people of color in entertainment being passed over for white actors.
I understand the need for characters like Apu (Simpsons) to be retired or recast, as they are, at kindest, a caricature of a race...
but please let’s think about how unhelpful decisions like Kristen Bell’s are, to drop from a production like “Central Park” already a season in, because she is white, voicing a biracial character.
Cynical explanations aside, how is it helpful or inclusive to viewers to say it’s not ok for someone who is (presumably) 95%+ white to earnestly voice a character who is by design approximately 50% white? The character is not Apu. It’s a normal girl, living in New York.
