Listen, fellas, if you're bitching about female warriors in #AssassinsCreedValhalla, read up. In 2017, a grave was unearthed in Solør, Norway, containing a woman with battle injuries and a stack of weapons like swords, axes & arrows - and she's not alone.
Perhaps the most famous unearthed female Norse warrior was found at Birka in Sweden, in the 19th century. Last year, scientists reaffirmed earlier findings that the skeleton of a warrior, buried with sword and axe, was female.
Viking warrior women weren't alone at the time either. A woman found on the island of Langeland, in Denmark, turned out to be Slavic in origin, albeit buried in a Viking burial ground.
