French scientists have identified the earliest-known case of COVID-19 in the nation: a patient who was treated in a hospital near Paris in December, an indication that the virus has been spreading across the world for far longer than had previously been known.
The doctors from the Groupe Hospitalier Paris Seine in Saint-Denis said sample taken from a 42-year-old fishmonger, admitted to ER on Dec. 27, tested positive for coronavirus.

The man reported coughing up blood, a headache and a fever. Admitted to ICU, recovered and discharged.
