Now PG says the BRP team have delivered nothing.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️He knew by end of Feb that they had No competence Nor capability to deliver the rescue plan. Yet they continued to pay them. Clearly DPE failed dismally to exercise their fiduciary duties on this contract.
No amount of blame shifting can change that. In the process Covid-19 has made recreation prospects almost null and void.
We must urgently rethink custodianship of the oversight of SOEs. DPE is Not structured optimally for this function.
I have discussed this in Fit for Purpose. I go much deeper into the subject in my next book due in August. The R200m wasted on the BRP exposes this serious weakness. The BRP should Not have happened. It was unwise and terribly ill-informed.
The state of SOEs requires highly experienced professionals to steer their course in these turbulent times. They also require to be under an oversight structure that embraces the best in modern trends in this critical area. I deal with this in the new book
What the President I recommend must do is to immediately construct a transitional structure to replace DPE. This has become manifestly clear. The post Covid-19 makes such a move imperative and urgent.
