The Karnataka government, facing criticism for its action of stopping migrant workers from leaving for their hometowns, has finally agreed to resume train services.

The decision was taken after thousands of workers chose to take the extreme step of walking home, in the absence of trains.

@pushkarv caught up with a few workers on the highway on Thursday.

While the government initially blustered and said that no workers were forced to stay, many termed this a violation of their fundamental rights.

The move to restrict workers was even praised by some, including MP @Tejasvi_Surya, inspite of what the workers themselves had to say.

The only voices not heard in making this decision seem to be that of the workers themselves. In addition, they had to face 'punishment' for trying to return home.

With the state government backtracking, scenes like these, on highways leading out of #Bengaluru, will hopefully end soon.
We had highlighted the plight of #MigrantWorkers on Wednesday when we spoke to Ramesh, a worker from UP who wanted only to get back home.
