Where should 'pop-up' cycleways go? We analysed data for 10 cities, 4 of which are shown below, finding that there are 'spare lanes' near city centres in all of them.

This work flags major arterial routes that may have a spare lane at a time of reduced traffic. A wide range of other interventions is possible, including preventing through traffic as illustrated here and making roads temporarily one way.
