QUESTION: After hearing one of President Trump's valets tested positive for #COVID19, we wanted to know, what does the job entail? We asked @emmett_beliveau former Director of the White House Military Office, during the Obama administration. Follow this thread for the answers.
QUESTION: Are valet's in close contact with the President?

ANSWER: "I can't speak to current practice but during my time there, the valets were among a very short list of people who had constant, very close contact with the first family.
The other people I would put on that list would be the physician to the president and the physician that was taking care of the First Lady."
QUESTION: Do the valets live at the White House?
ANSWER: "There is no facility for them to sleep at the White House. They're certainly working long hours. They commute from wherever they are living in the capital area.
On a trip outside of Washington, DC, the valets would for sure be staying in their own hotel room, but in very close proximity to the president -certainly on the same hotel floor as the President."
QUESTION: If they get an illness like #COVID19. Do they go on leave?

ANSWER: "I don't think we put them on leave, but we certainly want to isolate and quarantine any individual that had a communicable disease and quickly perform the contact tracing required to see
who they've been in contact with. We didn’t have highly communicable disease that we were facing. But I, as a staffer, I was the director of advance before I was with the military office and I had H1N1 back in 2009.
I think I was on a trip with the president in Chicago and thought I'd come down with the flu. The White House medical unit, because they're there to take care of him, was very quickly able to come to my hotel room and
give me a rapid test and get me on Tamiflu take great care of me. They have the best medical capability in the world; some of the best medical providers in the world,
so I trust that they have the rigorous testing and sanitation procedures in place to protect the President and staff."
