We’re grateful for the constituent services focus BUT there is only one person in their district who can legislate...and we need real legislation to kick-off a true #PeoplesRecovery! #DemocracyIsEssential /2
It’s time @AndreaSCousins@CarlHeastie convene the legislature to pass policies that will alleviate the devastation to New Yorkers’ health and economic well-being that COVID-19 continues to inflict. #DemocracyIsEssential /3
It’s time @AndreaSCousins@CarlHeastie convene the legislature to pass an ultra-millionaires tax. Even Republican leaders have made the ultra-wealthy chip in more to generate the necessary revenue during economic recessions. #DemocracyIsEssential /4
It’s time to #GetBackToWork as legislators. It’s going to take systemic policy change to ensure New York recovers. And we require urgent new laws to deliver the relief New Yorkers need right this second. #DemocracyIsEssential - time to lead @AndreaSCousins@CarlHeastie /end

THREAD: We always knew the 2022 elections were going to be challenging. But the one chance we had to reverse the historical trends was to show voters that a Democratic majority could govern, could deliver solutions, and that even when we lost, we were willing to fight. /1
For months we’ve been asking @POTUS to step up and fight for the agenda he ran on. To throw every tool, every surrogate, every media approach behind what is already an incredibly popular agenda. On #BuildBackBetter and the #FreedomToVoteAct, he’s refused. /2
And the thing is, when the leader of the party seems uninterested in their agenda and time drags on without delivering, it’s easy to see how doubt and disinterest could creep in for the voting block that delivered in 2020. /3
COVID19 FUNDING THREAD: State & local governments are the front line responders to the #COVID19 epidemic. They will experience significant costs & at the same time their major sources of revenue will decline enormously due to social distancing and quarantine measures. /1
But unlike the Fed Gov't, states & localities have very limited capacity 2 borrow in response to an emergency. Since they cannot print money & their debt is not supported in the way Federal Treasuries are, they must approach the credit markets just like any other corporation. /2
With no assistance states will be forced to make difficult choices between financing the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic and providing critical public services.
So New Yorkers are asking our leaders, specifically @SenSchumer to step up and fight for our needs. /3
