A short thread about this delhi based legal think tank which is everywhere proposing laws and committees. Some facts on record with govt documents as evidence. thread becase they helped formulate a data sharing protocol for @SetuAarogya
I first heard about them during the #Aadhaar case when its founder @Arghya_justify was involved in defending govt's stance that Indians don't need a fundamental right to privacy. His stance during the hearing was privacy is part of article 21, so one doesn't need it to elevate it
During hearings in SC, government constitutes Sri Krishna committee for making a data protection law because @Vidhi_India has suggested it @rsprasad. The govt used this as an argument to persuade the court to not grant fundamental right to privacy saying there will be a data law.
All this was because any fundamental right to privacy may hurt the #Aadhaar project. Guess who was @UIDAI legal council and helping them with their legal issues and vetting them to issues those Aadhaar notifications post demonetization. None other than @Arghya_justify
Sri Krishna committee made several discussions about anonymization, de-anonymization of data, sharing of data, liabilities of ownership of data. All of this was done, none of those internal discussions, submissions are public. Justice Sri Krishna himself thinks it should be
Now @Arghya_justify suggests we discuss about data sharing protocol yet again, while all of this was done debated multiple times. Why will I do that, when the mandatory nature of app itself is illegal. Does @Vidhi_India support @SetuAarogya being made mandatory like #Aadhaar?
What is @Vidhi_India's role on all of this? Have they been asked by Government of India to propose these new data protocols? Then why did they ask them to get a privacy law? Most importantly why wasn't it a open call for say others like @internetfreedom to submit proposals?
The nature of @Vidhi_India's access to Govt of India and their pro #Aadhaar @SetuAarogya stances have direct conflict of interests with who funds them - Rohini Nilekani. Specially when we don't know who the volunteers behind the app are just like Aadhaar.

Let's get facts on record will @GoI_MeitY give us all the files of Sri Krishna committee & the new data sharing protocol as we debate privacy and data protection again? Will @Vidhi_India come out and say we need a privacy law or otherwise? Tell us who built the app first.
I am no legal scholar to criticize the law or the court submissions and judgements. But all I see here is a nexus of people trying to make all the rules without any due process.
