Yesterday's thread, why the UK should not be in a tearing hurry to complete trade deals with major powers who are all take and no give, especially as we don't yet know what we want.

My conclusion is unlikely to be shared by too many in our polarised trade debate. But this is the reality - immediately taking on the big kids of international trade, in search of short term headlines likely to cause long term problems.
I fear I am an exception in the UK policy community in that when I think of our interests I don't immediately associate them with someone else, whether that's pro or anti EU or US.

Any chance we can talk about us for a change?
