Daily #PTFCOVID19 briefing:

Speech by SGF and Chair of the Task Force: statehouse.gov.ng/covid19/2020/0…
SGF: The statistics on COVID 19 have continued to come out daily and the indications are that our testing strategy is yielding results because we can now give care to those that need it. #PTFCOVID19
SGF: “The #PTFCOVID19 wishes to congratulate all our frontline health workers that have collectively nursed back to health, a total of 1,071 Nigerians already discharged from the various isolation treatment centres.”
DG @NCDCgov, @Chikwe_I: “This is not a Nigerian outbreak, it’s a global outbreak, and we have to engage globally.” #PTFCOVID19
DG NCDC: As we watch TV [daily], we have seen places where science has come in conflict with politics. I’m very proud that Nigeria’s political leadership have actually listened to the science and used science to drive action; have based the entire response in Nigeria on science.
DG NCDC: We are increasing our focus on domestic science and research, how can we use research to improve the response? We are engaging with organizations like TETFUND, NIMR, ACEGID, LUTH,etc to make this happen. Nigeria is also participating in the WHO Solidarity Clinical Trial.
Minister of Health @DrEOEhanire:

- No conclusions yet with regards to the deaths in Kano. Investigations still ongoing

- We have been able to learn from ongoing interactions with the Chinese personnel, based on their own experiences dealing with #Covid19 in China

#PTFCOVID19
Minister of Health @DrEOEhanire: We encourage all those who think they have an answer to #Covid19 to go ahead and do the research they want to do. NAFDAC is there for all researchers to approach, nobody needs to give you permission to approach NAFDAC.
DG @NCDCgov: We do not share #COVID19 test results with the public; results are shared with the people who got the test. #PTFCOVID19
National Coordinator, #PTFCOVID19: Essential workers should be allowed free movement, across the country.
Minister @NigeriaMFA: It is true the Canadian Govt denied landing rights to a Nigerian Carrier scheduled for evacuation duty, on grounds that the Airline does not have a license to undertake commercial flights to Canada. Our High Comm is engaging with Canadian Govt on this issue.
Minister of Foreign Affairs @GeoffreyOnyeama: The argument our High Commissioner is making is that this is not a regular commercial flight, but instead an emergency evacuation flight. So negotiations are ongoing with the Canadian Government. #PTFCOVID19
