I call BS on this and I'll tell you why. As a former owner operator myself, I know how this works. Owning your own truck and using brokers means you CHOOSE the loads you take. Don't like the pay? Don't take the load. It's not an hourly job, it's a per load job. 1/
There is NO way you'll be forced to drive ungodly hours because truck driver hours are heavily regulated by state and federal laws. You have to carry logs for every minute you spend on the road. And by law you are only allowed to drive certain amount of hours 2/
Waiting for a load is part of the job. Just like sitting in traffic. And guess where you have to wait HOURS to get loaded? Usually union docs where union workers have to take a damn break every 5 minutes and can only move two steps before going home. 3/
A lot of times we used to load or unload the truck ourselves so that we could turn around and get back on the road because having to be at the mercy of the lazy union doc workers is like being at the mercy of your stupid laws. 4/
Every load has a delivery time & date and it's up to you how you deliver that load within the regulations set by the state and feds. If you don't want to deal with brokers, you can sign on with your own truck to haul for a specific company, still as an IC. 5/
The three years that I drove my own 18-wheeler through the US hauling produce, chicken, eggs, and I can't remember what else, were some of the most profitable. We made bank! So I have a hard time understanding how you are so horrible at pushing false narratives. Fin.
